Default Powerlogger comm port error

Bob & board members.
Need help with a powerlogger set up issue.
Swapped laptops, still running a XP machine.
Laptop recognises the powerlogger on the USB channel (assigned comm 9)
but when I launch powerlogger & try to start monitoring I get a comm port error.

Is there some comm port # limit on the software or the baud rate issue. Port is showing 9600N8 1 right now.

Was OK on old laptop which I don't have access to.
