Need Physical MaftPro Support/Repair/Replacement
Hi Bob,
I have had this long standing issue with my Maft-Pro, and now that the car is stored for the winter I would like to take care of it as it won't drive without the unit.
I stopped by Full Throttle Tech in Detroit in person this past spring and spoke to Steve Licht directly. He said to contact him via email and that he would help get me in touch with the right team, which I did about a month ago, but I have not received a response so I wanted to try you directly.
My Maft-Pro has had an issue since day one in my 90' Supra with the input for the throttle position sensor. The unit itself has to be positioned in such a way that the signal shows up on the screen. If I move it ever so slightly, it goes to 0.0, then back to the normal .47, and the car stalls and barely runs. All my signal wires are soldered, and are rock solid otherwise. It is very obvious that the connection issue was near the unit. For years I thought the issue was with the connector itself, so a few years back I took the unit out, traced the TPS input to the board, and soldered onto the board directly to bypass the connector. Surely this would fix the issue. But it did not. The exact same finicky issue exists, and the reason for this I believe is because of an issue on the unit's PCB itself, somewhere between the layers there is a weak trace that makes and looses connections as the wire loom is moved slightly.
I’d like to request a new Unit or to have this one repaired, although I do not think it can be repaired. I take a lot of pride in my car and having it setup correctly and this is just not acceptable any longer. I cannot give the car to someone and say, this car will be reliable for you to drive. Because if the glove box is opened and the unit reads 0.0 it will stall. The issue within the layers of the PCB cannot be fixed by me.
I bought the Unit a long time ago, new and directly from Full Throttle Tech. I would like to ask what you guys can do to help me. I'll pay for some of it if necessary, but this has been a long standing issue with the unit's PCB itself and I should have had it resolved years ago. I want to make it right and do not want to switch to another management computer.
Thanks for any help you offer.
