Default High MAF #'s at idle

helping a fellow TB owner. He has a translator and LTI maf. Motor came out for some surgery and now at idle his MAF numbers at 19-22. Key on,engine off they are 13. Nothing has changed since the motor came out and before it was 4-5 at idle and no problems.

Now it's pig rich at idle, but is cross counting fine and BLM's are near or at 128. IAC is at 45 at idle and everything else is normal.

I took the translator out of the equation and plugged in a known good stock MAF and got the same 13 key on,engine off. Even tried a known good used LT1 maf with translator back in the loop and same results.

Now my TTA with same setup has 4-5 key on,engine off so I'm a bit stumped here?
Anyone have an idea??

see if the MAF numbers change with the engine off, and pressing on the gas.

see what happens if you unplug the MAF.

Try another chip and/or ECM

Okay, just to partially close the door on this problem. I tried checking the MAF numbers key on, engine off while pressing the gas pedal---no change, stuck at 13gp/ms.

So,while waiting for the other chip we decide to take the car for a ride and watch the MAF under different conditions.

When he comes back he says "no good", big maf numbers all over the place. So I hook up the laptop to record a couple PL files and notice the MAF is at 4 at idle and responds normally now.

It's all good now, he put 60 -70 miles on it all day and no problems.

So....I dunno what happened?...but it's been fine since that first drive.

....and....the problem is back. He tells me he has wild-ass AF numbers in the 400-500's.

Would this be a case of the PL board not having a good connection on the ECM'c edge connector?
